If you're visiting our Camp-Resort this season, you'll probably need a few suggestions for things to do outside of our Lodi campground! With all that we have to offer, you won't need to leave our Northern California campground unless you're itching to explore the surrounding area! Modesto and neighboring towns have plenty of options for family-friendly things to do. Here is a mix of 10 things to do near Modesto to keep in mind for your next stay with us!

Great Valley Museum and Planetarium

Start out the family fun at Great Valley Museum and Planetarium. This is one of Modesto's top things to do and features exhibits focusing on five habitats found in California. The displays features plants and animal specimens from the Riparian, Alkali Sink, Oak Woodland, Vernal Pool, and Grassland habitats. Museum hours are Wed - Sat from 9AM - 3PM. General admission is $5, children and seniors are $4!

If you have had a busy day at our campground near Modesto, think about catching a show at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Check out the events calendar for all the shows they have planned at their different venues and choose the best one for you and your family! Tickets will vary per show.

McHenry Mansion

The last family friendly attraction you must see when camping near Modesto is the McHenry Mansion. Take a step back into the 19th century by visiting the McHenry Mansion. Located in Modesto, California, this historic house, built in 1883, has been open to the public as a tourist destination since 1983. They offer family-friendly tours of the Mansion, which are free of charge.

If you are looking for a kid-friendly all American restaurant, the Black Bear Diner is for you! This chain restaurant has great food options, and we are sure you will something for anyone in the family. Plus, the have 12 kids menu options starting at $4.69.
 

Skewers Kabob House

Skewers Kabob House is a family owned and operated restaurant established in 2003. They serve Persian inspired Mediterranean cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere. They also offer outside catering for up to 800 guests!

Last on the list of restaurants in Modesto is Mike's Grillehouse. They serve many items freshly made at the grille including grilled chicken salad, or even a filet topped with a Cabernet mushroom sauce! Their soups and sauces are even old family recipes that have been passed down through generations. There is nothing like a home cooked meal!

John Thurman Field

Get the family together and head to the ballpark! The John Thurman Field is the home of the Modesto Nuts, the Seattle Mariners affiliate in the California League. Check out their schedule and get your tickets for a day of food and fun! 
 

Almond Blossom Cruise

This is one of the most anticipating times of the year. On our list of things to do in Modesto, the Almond Blossom Cruise is one of our favorites. Take the cruise from the comfort of your car using their map or with the Wayfarer audio tour that gives a narrated tour with turn by turn directions, info about almonds and stories from locals all with incredible orchard views and stops.

 

Escape Room Modesto

Take the family on a fun scavenger hunt at one of the Escape Rooms in Modesto! You will have 60 minutes to escape the room you choose to do and hopefully conquer it! It is $35 a person and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
